Dr. Tovar received her degree in clinical psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in clinical research at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Tovar educates residents on behavioral health aspects of patient care at the Family Practice Center and supports their personal and professional development throughout their years of residency. She oversees the CAPE (Communication and Patient Experience) curriculum using standardized patient experiences to teach best communication practices in difficult situations. Areas of clinical and research interest include depressive and anxiety disorders, health disparities, bias awareness, and culturally responsive care.
