I was born and raised in the Washington DC area, attended the University of Maryland for undergraduate and medical school, and completed a Transitional Internship at Naval Medical Center, Portsmith, VA. I served four years as a General Medical Officer in the Navy, two aboard a small aircraft carrier and two at a shore station. It was my priviledge to care for those who were serving all of us and their families. I completed my training in Emergency Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago where I expanded my interest in point of care ultrasound, initially developed during my time in the Navy. I have worked as teaching faculty both at Northwestern's Feinberg School of Medicine and Penn State University College of Medicine. Current interests include teaching POCUS at all levels anad expanding clinical ultrasound use. My wife and I have one son, Ben in 8th grade currently and we live with our three retired racing greyhounds. Most recent motto: "Why complain, it can always get worse."
